Series Capacitance Calculator

Show/Hide: Definitions Formulae Instructions

Introduction:

The calculator on this page allows you to easily calculate the effective/total capacitance of a set of capacitors in a circuit, where they are used 'in series'.
The calculator understands technical notations, such as 2n7 or 0F1 for 2.7 nano-Farads and zero point one Farads, respectively.
Click on any of the links at the top of the page to reveal (or hide) more information about this calculator.

Instructions

  1. Enter each capacitance into the text-box labelled 'Capacitances:', either one at a time, or as a list
  2. Press the 'calc Capacitance' button
  3. Click the spanner icon next to any entry to Alter or Remove that value
  4. Press the 'Clear Results' button if you wish to discard the current results list, otherwise further amounts will be added to the same total.
